Forget standing in line on Black Friday at that electronics store: Virginia’s ABC stores will be open early with hopes you’ll spend your cash there.

ABC stores in Northern Virginia, Richmond, and Williamsburg will open at 7 a.m. Friday. The remainder of the stores in the state will open at the regular hour of 10 a.m.

ABC plans to offer up to 50 percent off selected spirits, and will give customers 10 percent off of a purchase of $50 or more. The specials will remain in effect until 3 p.m. Friday.

“This is a unique opportunity for our retail customers to purchase quality items at reduced prices,” ABC Chairman J. Neal Insley said in a press release. “For individuals interested in trading up to more premium brands for themselves or as gifts, the discount will help offset the higher cost.”

While none of the stores opening early are in the Prince William region, the press release states which stores will open early:

No product will be excluded from the 10 percent discount. Shoppers spending the minimum $50 will receive the discount on everything from miniatures to top-shelf specialty items. During the holiday, ABC stocks gift packages from a variety of vendors that will be included as well.

As is true with most retailers, store gift cards, a popular stocking stuffer, will not be discounted.

Stores that will open at 7 a.m. include Willow Lawn, Richmond; Monticello Avenue, Williamsburg; Sully Plaza, Chantilly; and two Fairfax stores in Fairfax Court and Fair Lakes Shopping Centers.

Virginia ABC officials said they encourage residents to drink responsibly.

Virginia is one of 18 states across the country that controls the distribution of liquor. Virginia’s ABC generated $693 million in gross sales last year.
